Course content
Basic Concepts: identifying what effective proofreaders do; outlining and using systematic proofreading techniques; highlighting efficient methods of working; proofreading problems.

BS 5261 Part 2 Proofreading Symbols: applying the symbols in a series of exercises; spotting and marking grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors; querying inconsistencies and lack of clarity; ensuring that house style guidelines are followed.

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling: common errors; current best practice; opportunity to raise queries.

Proofreading Documents: this course is highly practical and will involve participants in a variety of exercises which will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Action Planning: participants plan and discuss what they will do on return to work.
