Overview

If you have a good grasp of the basics of grammar, Grappling with Grammar will sharpen your awareness.

* Verbs, clauses and sentences
* That or which? - understanding relative clauses
* Verbal nuances - may/might, should/would, shall/will, the subjunctive
* The dangling participle and other structural weaknesses
* Split infinitives and other bugbears
* How to use commas, semicolons, colons and dashes
* The apostrophe
* How to punctuate quotes
* When to hyphenate
* Consolidation

Who is it for?

Please note that this is a second level course that will require a thorough understanding of the basics of grammar. Anyone who uses words - for internal or external correspondence, in publicity material or in an editorial context. Grappling with Grammar provides guidance and practice in specific problem areas, as well as consolidating punctuation skills. If you need a grasp of current grammatical terms and key concepts, as well as the basic principles of punctuation, we recommend this course.

What will I learn?

* explain your editorial decisions.

How will I be assessed?

You will not be assessed, but will recieve a certificate of attendence.
