Overview

Many technical staff know their subject matter in detail, but find it difficult to communicate information to a non-technical audience. They find this reflects both on them and their organisation. This course has been developed specifically for such people. The course is aimed at technical staff who have been tasked with producing documentation. It explains how to communicate information clearly, concisely and correctly to a non-technical audience. Sessions include: General writing principles and best practice writing styles and techniques. Understanding how to use punctuation and grammar. Developing knowledge of design and layout techniques. Understanding the importance of navigation tools in documents. Avoiding silly mistakes through proofreading documentation. Learning some of the advanced features of Microsoft Word that are relevant to the production of user documentation. The course is a combination of class-room teaching and practical exercises

Technical and managerial staff in the IT industry that produce documents for end users and non-IT personnel.

What will i learn?

Learn how to communicate information clearly, concisely and correctly to a non-technical audience.

How will i be assessed?

Delegates receive comprehensive courseware and a completion certificate. There is no assessment made as part of this course.
