Overview

Effective technical writing is a critical component of clear and concise communication. Technical documents that successfully meet the needs of users result in lower costs, speedier acceptance of new or revised systems, and improved user efficiency. This course provides a thorough grounding in essential technical writing principles, writing styles and practices. It is ideal for career technical authors and technical writers who want to improve their skill set and the quality and effectiveness of the documentation they produce. The course is practical and 'activity-based'. Throughout the course you perform extensive exercises to gain experience in the techniques taught. As part of the course, delegates are invited to bring a sample of their work to receive editorial feedback on their writing.

What will i learn?

You learn how to: Produce clear, effective documents including user guides, technical documents, tutorials and standard operating procedures, that are easy to read, understand and act upon. Improve the understanding of your documents by structuring information in ways helpful to your readers. Use an editing process structured around industry-standard best practice. Develop a clear writing style. Build effective sentences, paragraphs and sections.

How will i be assessed?

Delegates receive comprehensive courseware and a completion certificate. There is no assessment made as part of this course.
