Overview

Our two week Drywall course will enable you to undertake all aspects of our Drylining & Jointing Course and Metal Stud Partitioning Course; our instructors will expertly take you through each stage. You will be taught in our purpose built workshop and will be taken 'step by step' through each process, from basic procedures to the erection of metal stud frames and suspended ceilings.

Subjects Covered:

Week 1:

The correct method of measuring and cutting plasterboard to size and fixing.
The application of plasterboard to stud walls, window and door returns, internal and external angles and piers.
The direct bonding of plasterboard to walls using the 'dot and dab' method.
The application of drywall tape to internal/external and flush joints.
The application of drywall beads to external angles.
The uses of and the mixing of joint filler and joint cement.
Hand jointing techniques to internal/external and flush joints leaving a smooth seamless crack free finish.
Machine taping and jointing techniques to internal/external and flush joints.
The correct method of feathering, sanding down and sealing ready for decoration.
Week 2:

How to set out and construct metal furring suspended ceilings.
How to set out and construct metal stud partition walls, incorporating window and door openings, T junctions and internal/external corners.
How to accurately measure, cut and screw fix plasterboard (using power drivers) to these systems, allowing for the installation of services etc.

You will be taught:

The application of drywall tapes to internal/external corners, window reveals and flush joints.
Hand jointing techniques to internal/external and flush joints leaving a smooth seamless crack free finish.
The correct method of feathering, sanding down and sealing ready for decoration.
As with week 1, great importance is given to the preparation of plasterboard joints. Skills gained during week 1 are reinforced enabling you to approach all taping & jointing with confidence.

Duration: 10 days
