Who is it for?

This course is relevant to all employees who prepare and serve food. It is especially applicable to those involved in the selection of ingredients, recipes and menus such as school caterers and care home workers. Customer facing employees who need to understand customer queries and GCSE students taking relevant food and health subjects would also benefit.

What will I learn?

On completing this course candidates will be able to understand:
*The relationship between diet and health
*Individual nutritional requirements of different groups of people
*Specific standards and recommendations that apply to catering for certain groups
*How food preparation and processing affects the nutritional value of food
*The significance of information on food labels

How will I be assessed?

There is a short multi-choice test at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Healthier Food and Special Diets. QCA Accredited.

Additional Notes

The duration of the course is 6 hours. We usually aim to start the course at 9.00am and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 4.30pm.
