Who is it for?

This course is designed for anyone who carries out manual handling activities at work and introduces candidates to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and controls available. The course also covers what to expect from a manual handling risk assessment.

What will I learn?

On completing this course candidates will understand:
*What is meant by the term "manual handling" and give examples
*How manual handling can cause injury
*The principles of controlling manual handling risks and how to apply these
*The value and purposes of conducting a manual handling assessment and what employees can expect of such assessments
*The main provisions of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations

How will I be assessed?

There is a short multi-choice test at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in the Principles of Manual Handling certificate.

Additional Notes

The duration of the course is 3 hours. We usually aim to start the course at either, 9.00am, 1.00pm or 5.00pm. Although this is a stand-alone qualification and there are no specific entry qualifications, the CIEH strongly recommend that candidates should already hold the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
