Overview

The course will examine issues relating to COSHH assessments. Practical aspects of assessing will be examined. In addition the course will include risks from chemical exposure during work, the use of suitable controls and record keeping in line with the legal requirement for risk assessment.

Who is it for?

Suitable for anyone who has to carry out chemical hazard risk assessments under COSHH, or that works with hazardous chemicals and wants to know more about COSHH.

What will I learn?

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Identify the vulnerable areas of the body for chemical entry.
• Explain the superficial defences of the body.
• Classify chemicals by hazard groups.
• List the properties of chemicals that increase the likelihood of entry to the body.
• Recite the hierarchy of controls to be used.
• State the key requirements of the control of substances hazardous to health regulations.

How will I be assessed?

Ongoing assessment through the day.
No exams.
Certificate on completion of course.
