Overview

This study day explores the concept of nutrition as a specific complementary therapy, in relation to conception, pregnancy, birth and the puerperium. On completion, practitioners will be able to advise pregnant women on the appropriate use of diet and nutritional supplements to aid wellbeing in pregnancy and to treat specific complaints, and will know where to obtain further information as required. Please note that this study day provides an overview of the subject, therefore it is not suitable for those who are fully qualified nutritional therapists

Who is it for?

for midwives, health visitors, doctors, complementary practitioners, doulas, antenatal educators, maternity support workers and those considering midwifery training

What will I learn?

overview / revision of DoH guidelines on nutrition in pregnancy; use of vitmains and minerals as therapy to correct nutritional imbalances in pregnancy

How will I be assessed?

The study day is not assessed and those who attend only the single day will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
