Overview |
The Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) course equips participants to quickly and confidently utilise this lifesaving piece of equipment. AEDs are recognised as the definitive treatment for a large number of cardiac arrests. For this reason, the UK Resuscitation Council advocates the use of an AED by those with no medical training as soon as possible. While many workplaces and venues have AEDs, many people hesitate to use them when required losing valuable minutes. Early use of AEDs saves lives. |
Who is it for? |
This course is for anyone who has completed a Basic Life Support (BLS) course or equivalent. CodeBlue Education offers a discounted BLS and AED package as a one-day course. The use of AEDs is increasingly being recognised as an integral part of BLS. Anyone equipping themselves with BLS and first aid skills would benefit greatly from this course. |
What will I learn? |
From the course, participants will gain the following: |
How will I be assessed? |
Participants will be assessed against the UK Resuscitation Council AED assessment tool. Participants will correctly and safely set up an AED, and shock a manikin without guiding cues to successfully complete this course. Participants will be given repeated attempts at completing the task successfully so that they leave the course feeling confident in the use of this life-saving device. |

The closest underground station is Boston Manor on the Piccadilly line. From there, regular buses E8 and 195 can be taken to Cumberland road which is a two minute walk from the training centre. |
