Overview

This evening workshop is the final in a series of five with each designed to teach the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques within the management of musculoskeletal problems in a different anatomical region. They are aimed at those who already use and are qualified to use acupuncture, they are not an introduction. Each evening will primarily teach the use of acupuncture, specifically thread needling, in the treatment of conditions commonly encountered in that region. Other techniques will also be considered including the therapeutic use of balms and Tui-Na (chinese medical massage).


The evening will cover the following:

* Theory of injuries to specific areas (Chinese)
* Channels and acupuncture points at joints and surrounding areas
* Distal points and the theory behind their use
* Safety considerations
* Thread needling, theory and practical application
* Electro Acupuncture

Who is it for?

Qualified physiotherapists and other professional currently qualified to use and using acupuncture within their clinical practice.

What will I learn?

On completion of this workshop, the participant will be able to:

1. Describe the treatment of key clinical conditions affecting the lumbar spine and hip from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective using acupuncture, balms and Tui-Na.
2. Demonstrate specific needling techniques for the lumbar spine and hip including thread needling starfish, eagle claw and stone henge
3. Discuss and demonstrate basic Tui-Na techniques which may be used in the management of musculoskeletal probs.

How will I be assessed?

A Certificate will be supplied on completion of the evening.
